the mystery of creation

I’ve been experimenting with some new ideas lately, and it occured to me that I experience the same worry and fear now that I did before getting published: will this idea work? Will it actually turn into something worthwhile, or am I completely wasting my time? I thought I would mention this for the sake of any writers who may be reading. Regardless of whether or not you’re published, regardless (I think) of how many books you’ve written, there is no way to know for certain that an idea will “work” until you get it down on paper, work with it, maybe even revise it a bit or let someone else read it.

When I look out my window, my little backyard is as white as a sheet of paper. So here’s a cheer to the blank page, and the hopeful words that you and I will write upon it.
